Ben Acosta

Ben Acosta

Ben Acosta was born in Fairfax, VA. He has trained and competed in Tae-Kwon Do, Kung Fu, Baseball, Track, and Dance. He began dancing and choreographing hip-hop recreationally at the age of 12 for his middle school when Marianne Kelley noticed him and introduced him to the world of dance. He has received scholarships, special recognitions, high awards and judges awards for unlimited potential and excellence in dance from various national competitions: DEA, NYLA, Encore, and Believe. He has performed key roles in the Nutcracker and placed first for dance choreography in Chesterfield County’s Reflection program, both at James River High School and at the county level.

Ben has thoroughly enjoyed assisting and teaching classes at MKSD and looks forward to inspiring young dancers to express themselves through body movement and music. He has consistently volunteered with local literacy programs to help young children in under-served communities since he was in middle school and volunteered regularly at Johnston Willis Hospital throughout high school. He is currently studying at Virginia Commonwealth University where he hopes to continue with his dance education, participating in various dance clubs and growing as a dancer!
