Robin Trainer, PT, DPT graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia with her doctoral in physical therapy in 2014 at the age of 49. Immediately upon graduating, she began working with the geriatric population in a skilled nursing setting before moving on to the outpatient community in 2016. Her current position with Advanced Physical Therapy has afforded her the opportunity to work with Tim Wittenauer, PT, MPT, CFMT as a mentor, as well as, the opportunity to pursue more intensive manual therapy skills and her own CFMT designation. Robin has a long history of movement training, beginning at the age of 9 with dance. She developed a passion for the world of ballet and earned her Bachelor of Science in Dance at Shenandoah Conservatory in 1987. She went on to dance professionally with the St. Louis Ballet under the direction of Ludmilla Dokoudovsky and Antoni Zalewski. Upon returning to the Richmond area, she continued to teach pre-professional ballet and became a certified Pilates instructor. Robin uses this same 44 years movement training background and kinesthetic awareness to guide her patients into achieving their mobility goals. In addition to being a physical therapist for Advanced Physical Therapy, Robin is also the owner of Wellness In Motion, and is dedicated to teaching Pilates and functional mobility strengthening for all her clients. When not working with her patients and clients, Robin enjoys spending time on the James River with her husband Richard, spending time with her four children, her son-in-law, and her 2 grandchildren, and attending performances of 2 of her own daughters who are pursuing their own dance careers.
