Audition Attire: MKSD Level Ballet Dress Code
Q: What should I expect at registration?
Nutcracker tuition fee of $300 includes your child’s rehearsal times and costume rental. You will visit our reception to check in, make your payment (check or cash only), and get an audition number for your child. Please help them pin it onto the front of their leotard. (Tee shirt for boys) Once you’ve registered, your child can go into the “holding room” to stretch with MKSD staff. (Sorry, no parents in this room)
Q: What should my dancer expect at the audition?
Age and level appropriate ballet class to Nutcracker music. Your child does not have to come with anything prepared, other than wearing their MKSD ballet dress code.
Q: When are rehearsals?
Which day and what time depends on your child’s role. Schedule for rehearsals will be released with casting.
Q: Does my child need to attend all rehearsals?
We prefer so. However, we realize it’s a busy time of year. Please try not to miss more than one weekend. In the event that a dancer misses excessive practice and we they are not able to maintain choreography, we may need to remove them from the cast.
Q: What roles are my child eligible for?
Each year we cast our show differently, to allow for overall production growth. Every role in our production is important! Casting will be emailed out in the week following the audition. We typically have 2 casts; A and B.
Q: What is Cast A/Cast B?
Both equally amazing… Cast A and B distribution helps us to give more dancers and opportunity to shine! This means your child may “share” their role with another child. When we practice we say “let me see cast a”, or “now let’s see cast b”. The dancers need to know which one they are! (This will be clear on the cast list)
Q: Do I need to purchase a ticket?
Yes. Tickets go on sale October 1, with our online vendor. We will send you a direct link via email.
